1970 Panther P-246H. Single cylinder Hirth engine.
This sled needs very little before snow flies. A windshield (the retaining strap is missing), a new set of skegs, a taillight bulb,six new rivets or bolts in the cleats and the flex pipe connecting the exhaust manifold to the muffler is cheesy - that's it. The engine runs as good as it did the day the dealer delivered it off the showroom floor, if you want to hear it run send me an e-mail w/your name phone #, I'll call you and start it up!
Here's what I've bought replaced so far: seat, gas tank, fuel line filter, fresh fuel, ignition headlight switches, and numerous fasteners such as the plastic capped acorn nuts. I cleaned the rust off the driven clutch so it won't chew up belts, the track has been loosened for off season storage, there are no bent or broken cleats, the track belts and skid frame hyfax look good. The drive and driven clutches work flawlessly, the belt is o.k. I wasn't able to locate a replacement for the missing tool box door, so I attached a flap cut from an inner tube. As is typical for these old cats, the seat I bought for it is in poor condition, the vinyl is old brittle and it developed a big crack when I tried to snap the seat down. The belly pan is free of dents. the front bumper has one small ding, barely noticeable. There is one ding in the corner of the hood - see photo. The skis are not worn through but could use some cleaning and a fresh coat of paint, something for its new owner to do when they change the skegs.
I had every intention of riding this beauty all over the "back forty" this winter, I wouldn't be selling it if I didn't have to. My reserve price does not cover my investment, my loss is your gain.
