Vehicle Description
Here is a 1975 Johnson JX440. It is 100% complete and original. Nothing missing and everything works. This machine does not have the optional gauges so mileage is unknown but judging buy the condition of the chassis and track it can not be many.
I purchased this from a fellow sled collector in MN last year. I went through the snowmobile completely and fixed everything that was an issue.
The compression on the engine was low on both sides(85 psi) so I put in a new set of piston rings that I purshased from Central Snowmobile. It only had spark on only one side so a good used CDI box was acquired from Bill at A-1 Sled Parts. The engine now starts on two pulls cold and one pull warm. Idles smooth and has abundant power.
The windsheild was a custom made by Jeff at Cannon Classics. The seat was recovered by Ed at Duncan Specialties. The new passsenger grab handles were suppiled by Brad at Sno-World. They also sent me a NOS kill switch which is on the sled and those beautiful OEM chrome shocks.
The entire fuel system was renewed. Lines, filter, pickup, ect. The original primer works great. The Walbro WF-1 carb was gone through. Track alignment and tension adjustments done. This thing is ready for the trails!
The bumpers are perfect. The bellypan does NOT have a dent in it. The running boards are very straight. The skis are great and the wear rods are good also. The hood does have a crack on the lower right rear corner. Gas gauge is original and functions. Nothing has been painted. What you see is original.
